will sessions be covered by my insurance?
At this time, StarHaus does NOT work with insurance. However, you may be eligible to have a portion of the cost of therapy reimbursed by your insurance company if you have out of network benefits. Here’s how to check:
Call the number listed on the back of your insurance card and ask the following questions...
Do I have out-of-network benefits?
Do these cover outpatient mental health services? (If they ask for specific appointment codes to check, inquire about 90791- which signifies an intake session, and 90834 - which is the code associated with ongoing individual therapy sessions).
Do I need prior authorization?
Is there a limit on the number of sessions I can attend per year?
Do I have an out of network deductible, and has it been met?
If you learn that you do have out of network benefits, we will be happy to provide you with a “super bill” which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
how much does therapy cost and what forms of payment do you accept?
We are able to accept payments via credit card, check, and cash. Please click the “Contact” button at the bottom of the page to inquire about fees.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost.
As of January 2022, health care providers who don’t accept insurance are required to provide clients with specific paperwork detailing total estimated costs of anticipated services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services.
Make sure your mental health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your initial session. You can also ask any provider you choose for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, reach out via our contact form!
how often will we meet, and how long are sessions?
Weekly sessions are recommended as a way to quickly establish a therapeutic relationship and keep your progress consistent. However, we understand that weekly sessions are not always feasible for clients, and we’re able to be flexible in establishing a schedule that works for you. Everyone is different, and everyone has different needs. We can discuss this more in depth during a free 15 minute phone consultation, or during your first session.
Therapy sessions are typically 45-50 minutes long. If you have a need for longer sessions, we can discuss this possibility during intake.
how long will i be in therapy?
The length of your time in therapy depends on what you’re looking for. Some people benefit from short term, solution focused therapy and can accomplish what they want in just 3 or 4 sessions. Others enjoy the opportunity to meet consistently for months or even years. Still others meet their goals quickly and then continue scheduling sessions on an “as-needed” basis. Once we have established a therapeutic relationship, we can determine together what your unique needs may be.
